At BC Movers, we know the most important variable in moving your office is not to have interruption to your productivity. Our experienced movers, equipment, and efficient methods will ensure s timely transition into your new office.

Here is some overall advice about ensuring your office move is smooth:

-Get a floor plan of the new office and label where everyone is moving

-Have a numbering system and create an excel list with all the items required for each desk at the new office.

-Create a list of all the important cables and connectors and have some kind of numbering system between monitors, computers, servers, or other and their associated connections.

-Create a color system if there are numerous rooms. Combine this with the individual numbering system so that movers can easily place items without the client having to direct everything.

-Measure the dimensions of where desks are going to go to ensure that the layout is exactly as prepared.

Here are some helpful tips about moving items in your office:

Desks

Should be emptied with contents carefully labeled and documented. Desks are frequently tilted to ensure that they not open during transit.

Copiers

Should have all inks and toners taken out of the actual unit. The top right corner should be labeled. For some high-performance copiers, they may be certain specifications for the way the copier is to be moved. It is recommended to consult with the supplier before moving to be in compliance with any warranties.

Appliances

Should be labeled at the top right corner and have all loose items emptied from them.

Boxes

should be full without overflowing and taped properly on both sides, with labels put on the side for more visibility. The reason for this is that boxes are often stacked vertically to speed up moves and preserve space. Having underpacked boxes will waste space and have overpacked boxes can be a hazard. Overpacked boxes will be repacked by movers.

Cabinets

Should be emptied completely, but any removed pegs or parts should be labeled in order to reassemble them more easily after the move has been completed. Depending on the format, sometimes it is easiest to tape components to the cabinets.

Tables

Should be cleaned of any dirt or debris and then tagged on the top surface.

Computers

Should be disconnected by one of your employees before being blanket wrapped and packed by BC Movers; each individual part should be carefully tagged, again for easier reassembling

Fragile Items

Should be marked “FRAGILE”

Office Furniture

Will be disassembled by BC Movers and reassembled at the new office.

Metal Shelves

should have all items removed and tagged in a separate box or compartment

Find answers and general information

A list of frequently asked questions to help you understand how it works.

1. When is the best time to move?

The summer period is the most expensive as most people are moving their residences at this time. Especially near the end of the month or the beginning of the month (from about the 25th to the 5th) are most expensive and most quickly to be fully booked.

By contrast, moves in the fall or the winter are generally much more affordable and tend to have availability.

2. How long does it take to move?

Moving time will depend on many things including amount of furniture, number of movers, any special items, access or special conditions.

Here are the average times we have discovered from years of moves:

Residence2 Movers3 Movers
Bachelor3 to 4 hoursNot normally required
Junior 1 Bedroom Apt. (1 person)3 to 5 hoursNot normally required
Bedroom Apt. (1 person)4 to 6 hoursNot normally required
1 Bedroom Apt. (2 person)5 to 9 hours4 to 6 hours
2 Bedroom House7 to 9 hours5 to 7 hours
2 Bedroom Apt. (2 person)5 to 8 hours
2 Bedroom Apt. (Family)6 to 8.5 hours
3 Bedroom House7 to 9 hours
3 Bedroom Apt.8 to 10 hours

For 4 bedroom houses and larger, we may recommend 4 movers or more to speed up the move.

For very large moves, we work with customers to find a balance between time spend and cost.

3. How is the cost of my move determined?

Moving costs are different depending on whether it is local, long-distance or corporate or warehousing. The following standards are widely applicable.

For local moves, cost is largely determined by the amount of time it takes.

For long-distance moves, which are almost always fixed price, they are determined by weight and distance.

For corporate moves, which are almost always fixed price, there are a lot of variables included which are discussed beforehand. These include window to move. The allowed time slots for corporate moves are often narrow and unforgiving. All of these, including a strategic plan for moving are discussed directly with clients for all corporate moves.

4. How and when should I pay?

Although there are rare exceptions, in general the flow is like this:

After receiving a quote -> Place a deposit to reserve a spot -> After move is completed, to pay the balance owned minus the deposit.

We accept most major forms of payment. If you are unsure though, you can call us during business hours to confirm at (604)317-1986
