Langley Moving Companies Can Help When Your Friends Bail

Langley moving companies know that even the most experienced packers get stressed during a move. No matter how few belongings you think you have, it always seems like more when its time to pack. Another sad mistake movers make is to count on their friends for help. Moving day can be a true test of friendship and unfortunately, not everyone passes. Check out this funny blog post for more moving advice.

Even someone who is looking forward to a move may find they get stressed, overwhelmed, sleep-deprived and yes, even grumpy. There is just a lot to do, and it seems like there is never enough time. Even with a few clones, you would probably still find yourself a little on edge. Well, there is no point getting stressed. Some things will be out of your control, like the weather and traffic, but there are other things you can do to help the day go smoother. For starters, lighten up! This can actually be a fun day.

Try Not to Procrastinate

Fair enough, maybe procrastination has gotten you through just fine in life. Maybe you are one of those people who says you work best under pressure. Be honest, you have no choice but to be productive under pressure because you procrastinated! Now is the time to turn over a new leaf; you can go back to putting the details of your life off for another day when the move is done. The earlier you get started, the less you will have to cram into taking care of at the last minute.

Make a Checklist

Yes, of course you can remember your grocery list, but this does not mean you are a genius. When you are in the grocery store, you are surrounded by triggers that jog your memory. Planning a move is no time to test your brilliance. There are a lot of things to take care of. If you don’t create a list and check it off as you go, there is a good chance that things will be forgotten. Click this ink to finish reading Funny Moving Advice.

Many people don’t realize how important preparing early and creating a basic checklist is to making a smart move.

Green Moving Tips From Langley Moving Company

At Langley Moving Company, we’ve seen all kinds of moves. Some families are packed and ready to go, and some families are putting unwanted furniture by the dumpster as we ring their bell. For more information on making a “green” move, check out this helpful article.

In light of yesterday being Earth Day, it’s important to know that even when you are moving, there are ways that you can be environmentally friendly. This is especially important for those who live a “green” lifestyle. From the initial packing stage to the stage of organizing your new home, there are various ways that you can keep a relatively low environmental footprint.

For the initial packing stages, it is important not to leave packing until the last minute. Those last minute items that you know will end up being thrown out rather than packed can be put away early enough to hold a yard sale in the last few days you are in your home. If you don’t want to have a yard sale, you can also put these items on sites like Kijiji or EBay. Starting to plan your move early will also allow you to start to collect boxes early enough for your move. Try to acquire used boxes from places such as grocery stores, this is more cost-effective than buying new ones and is also good for the environment because you are re-using boxes. Another great way you can “go green” with boxes is by renting your moving boxes. Take advantage of companies that offer reusable packing crates, which can eliminate some of the box waste. Purchasing a couple reusable crates or totes is also a great way to remain environmentally friendly and reduce some of the after-move waste with boxes. Once these are used for moving, they can also be useful for storing seasonal items or items that you don’t use on a daily basis. Click this link to finish reading “Going Green” Moving Tips.

If you want to make an environmentally friendly move, the most important thing you can do is to pack early. This will allow you the time to find recycled boxes for packing, give away your unwanted items and thoroughly clean your old apartment with non-toxic cleaning agents.

Make Sure You Hire the Right Victoria Movers

Victoria movers are busy around this time of year. Make sure the moving company you hire is above-board by taking a few precautions. Always ask for an estimate in writing and purchase full value protection. Here’s an excerpt from a recent article written by Kevin Collins of the Better Business Bureau sharing tips on how to avoid being scammed by a moving company.

May is National Moving Month, which kicks off the busiest time of year for Americans changing residencies. It also means unlicensed movers and scammers are waiting to take advantage of unwary consumers.

In 2012, the Better Business Bureau received more than 1.4 million moving-related inquiries and more than 9,300 complaints against movers. Complaints included damaged or missing items, big price increases over originally quoted estimates, late deliveries and goods being “held hostage” for additional (disputed) payment.

The Better Business Bureau is again joining with the American Moving & Storage Association to provide important tips on how to avoid scams and find a trustworthy moving company:

• Research the company thoroughly. While state regulations vary, all interstate movers must, at a minimum, be licensed by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. FMCSA assigns a unique motor carrier number that can be verified at protectyourmove.gov.

With more Americans choosing to move in May than any other month, moving companies must work hard to keep up with the demand. Unfortunately, there is also an opportunity for dishonest moving companies to swoop in and take advantage of customers. So keep your eyes open and follow the tips shared on this post.

Victoria Movers See Real Estate Trends As They Happen

Victoria movers help with all types of long distance moves. Because of our job, we are right on the ground to notice real estate trends as they happen. Recently, the tech industry boom in San Francisco has led to a massive increase in home sales and moves in that area. Virtual Strategy Magazine wrote an interesting article about the subject.

Thanks to the tech industry boom in the San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley, the real estate market is experiencing a surge, spurring increased home sales in the area. This uptick in home sales will, in turn, drive more moves, a trend that moving companies, such as McGuire Movers, has already noted in recent months.

More home purchases mean more moving and storage activity for both home buyers and sellers. To help guide a seamless move, the experts at McGuire Movers explain the proper timeline for moving and provide the following tips.

The moving specialists at McGuire Movers recommend that as soon as home sellers put their property on the market, they should begin purchasing packing supplies. These packing supplies should include different-sized boxes, tape, labels, and padding. To help home movers determine how many boxes they should purchase, McGuire Movers has provided a free moving tool powered by online real estate database Zillow on their website. This tool gives an estimate of how many boxes people will need based on factors such as number of rooms and size of the house.

Next, every room in the house should be de-cluttered and cleaned. Decide what to keep, pack those items, and properly label the boxes. Mark any boxes with fragile items to reduce the chance of damage. Any unwanted items should be thrown away, donated to a charity, or sold in a garage sale. Changes in the economy are clearly reflected in the way people move, and we’re right there to see it. When the economy is on an upturn, we see more people moving into newly purchased homes.

Victoria Moving Companies Help Newlyweds To Avoid A Cluttered House

Victoria moving companies help with all types of moving situations. One of the happiest moves we help with is the newlywed move. For some helpful tips on a smooth newlywed move, check out this article from the Chicago Tribune.

(BPT) – Wedding day traditions vary ever so slightly from decade to decade based on music, fashion and cultural change. However, today’s newlyweds have a distinct issue that their parents probably didn’t face a quarter century ago — which sectional couch stays, and which one goes?

Today’s wedding registries are still chock-full of china, saucers, spatulas and the like, but chances are your newlywed friends have already accumulated many of life’s necessities as a result of living on their own for years before marriage.

A recent survey of first-time newlyweds by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows the median age of people marrying for the first time in the U.S. is at an all-time high. And while the percentage of young men and women living with their parents has risen in the past decade, more than 80 percent of Americans ages 25 to 34 live independently before marriage, according to Census Bureau reports.

So, what does a couple do when faced with duplicates of nearly everything before moving in together?

“Detach,” is the advice from Sean E. Burns, a psychologist with Counseling Associates of West Michigan. Click this link to finish reading What to do with all this stuff? Moving tips for newlyweds.

Although moving in together for the first time is exciting, it can also be complicated deciding which items to keep and which items to get rid of. With duplicates of furniture, newlyweds must be willing to give up a lot of items in order to avoid a cluttered house. When people have strong sentimental attachments to things, it can get tricky.

Moving In Burnaby Is Much Easier With A Plan

If you are moving in Burnaby, you can make the process much easier by coming up with a detailed plan ahead of time. Check out this helpful list of moving tips.

Here are seven crucial yet easy to follow tips on the most efficient way to get your move on the right track.

1. When should you move?

Make sure to give yourself a considerable amount of extra time to get things done. Time lets you plan and prepare. Then, decide on the timetable for moving. Summer is notably the peak season for moving companies. That means that prices are going to be higher then usual. However, it is important if you have school age children not to take them out of school for an extended period of time. Mostly though, your timetable for moving should depend on your personal situation.

2. Pre-move organization

The organization of your move is probably the biggest factor in determining how well the moving process will go. Make checklists of what needs to be done. You can make multiple lists if that will make it easier on you. Make sure you have some sort of effective method for organizing your relocation. In the end this will save you time, energy, and money, not to mention your sanity.

3. Pick a good moving company

Picking a good moving company is very important. First, ask your friends and family about their personal moving experiences with different moving companies. Next, research on the Internet to make sure any potential moving companies you may choose are licensed, insured, and legitimate.

Victoria, B.C. Movers Are Going Green

Victoria, B.C. movers have noticed a growing trend of customers wanting to make an eco-friendly move. If you share the same concern for the environment, there are a few simple things you can do to keep your move “green”. The first step is to use recycled moving supplies rather than purchasing them. The next step is to lighten your load as much as possible by donating what you don’t need. And the last and most important way to “eco-boost” your move is to begin new energy saving habits in your new home. Check out this informative blog for more green moving tips.

If your resolution for 2013 was to curb your carbon footprint, you might find it a challenge when there’s an impending move: the dozens of cardboard boxes, rolls of packing tape, the white ocean of Styrofoam packing peanuts, reams of plastic bubble wrap. Then there’s the moving truck that’ll haul thousands of pounds of your household goods to the other side of the city, or—cringe—across the state or country.

However, if you’re moving, there’s a way to fulfill your resolution, celebrate April as Earth Month and take part in a popular trend: green moving. It’s household moving with a conscious effort to choose the most environmentally-friendly packing materials, share and reuse supplies, and reduce carbon emissions during transport.

Read our tips for making your move green, as well as interesting statistics about how moving affects the environment. Also, find out what you need to do to make your household energy-efficient and start things off right in your new digs.
Get Smart about Supplies

The average move uses 60 cardboard boxes—that’s the equivalent of a half-ton tree. If you consider that an American moves 11 times in his or her lifetime, that’s 660 boxes, or 5 1/2 tons of wood, per person. Reusing a friend’s cardboard boxes is a good first step. Depending on quality, a cardboard box can withstand three to 10 uses, at which point it will likely need to be recycled.

But there are some more eco-friendly alternatives to cardboard boxes, as well as other traditional packing materials. Click this link to finsh reading Green Moving Tips: How to ‘Eco-Boost’ Your Move.

Here’s a video that shares information how to make your house more eco firendly. Enjoy the watch.
